65 of Richard Avedon’s most famous works, including the iconic Dovima with Elephants were auctioned of in Paris, netting a cool 7.5 million, with the aforementioned photograph selling for 1.5 million by itself.
Avedon was one of the greatest photographers to ever live, and his work as a portrait artist and fashion photography helped define the genre.
Funds raised from the auction go to the Richard Avedon Foundation.
