Basically, Mashable is reporting that nobody knows exactly how many iPads will be sold in 2010. Duh! But that won’t stop people from speculating. For instance the following are snippets as presented in this CNN Money and various other articles that trickle off of it:

  • Suppliers say 8-10 million shipped (not sold) by the end of 2010
  • Morgan Stanley’s people say 6+ Million sold by the end of 2010
  • Some dude named “Munster” in business week predicts 2.8 million sold in 2010
  • The Street (I guess that’s people who they don’t want to quote) say 3-4 million sold by the end of 2010
  • Suppliers expect to ship 2.5 million in the first 3 months
  • Morgan Stanley predicts 750,000 by the end of June
  • I predict that nobody has a clue and they are all talking out of their asses because their editor wanted them to write a story on the iPad that they can’t even touch yet!

I’m confused. Confused as to how they can write an article that spits out utter nonsense in number. Oh wait! I think I just did that too. Damn! I guess my point is that the damn thing isn’t even really on sale until this coming Saturday and already they are selling a boatload of them. The “Hype” machine has launched Apple stock to an all-time high of $233.87.

So will you be heading to the Apple Store on Saturday?

According to the Apple press release below they do plan on having them in all 221 of their US Apple retail locations and Best Buy stores on April 3rd.
