Stunning story telling. I don’t want this to sound insensitive, but the beauty in how it is shot, makes you wish that your own funeral it would snow and look this beautiful. I think that is a good thing? There is something powerful I think about snow/rain at a funeral. Well captured.

I took photos at my grandpa’s funeral last year and it really helped with closure and remembering both him and the day people came together in remembrance (sp?) of his life. I still treasure those images. And then a friend of mine’s dad lost his battle to throat cancer- and theyinsisted I take pictures for their day. It was very different doing it for someone elses family, but they really treasure those images as well.

I am a wedding and portrait photographer, but I totally see how the ability to capture moments and tell a story can so easily step up to the challenge of a funeral. And like a wedding, it’s a once in a lifetime thing. Perhaps more so even than a wedding.

I think the point I wanted to make above, was this post is inspirational. But I think I’d prefer to shoot it as this guy has, not so close to the lost one.

My grandad died on Monday. Ten months ago my gran, his wife, died also. On the funeral day my uncle asked me to take photographs, I wasn’t prepared or really up for it. But I used my iphone and found it helped. My grandad has his funeral later this month, I may take my g10.

I’m not sure if I’m too close to do it at this one, but I think it’ll help me, and my family will understand. Plus as that side is Hindu, it’s quite different to western funerals.
