The Canon Rebel series has been a great boon to amateur photographers, and with the T2i, Canon brought high-def video to the photographic masses.

Nikon has followed suit with the new D3100, which has many formerly professional level features in a body with a MSRP of $699.95.

Some notable features include:

  • 1080 p video at 24 fps with a recording time of 10 minutes per clip.
  • Video is shot in AVCHD and not (shudder) motion JPEG.
  • Continuous autofocus in video mode
  • The resolution has been up to 14.2 mp.
  • ISO has been upped to 12,800.
  • More notably, the D3100 has commander mode, allowing users to control off-camera flashes with the pop-up.

Sorry for poking fun of Joe, next time we’ll just let him do that himself. :-)
