John Knoll is not a name that is familiar to most wedding photographers. His photos have never been on the cover of Grace Ormonde mag, nor has he been a featured speaker at WPPI. But without John Knoll, the idea of editing photographs digitally just may not exist.
You see, Knoll, along with his brother Thomas, is the inventor of a little thing called Photoshop, and for most photographers these days, it is one of the cornerstones of their workflow.
Knoll is also a fairly private individual. He doesn’t do a lot of interviews, and spends most of his time working on his first love, Digital Effects for movies. It was, in fact, this work out of which Photoshop was born. He most recently was visual effects supervisor on Avatar.
