Samsung has set about to make the Compact Flash card nearly bulletproof! Their latest innovation is the Samsung Compact Flash Plus card (comes in SD varieties as well).
Unlike devotees of compact digital cameras, DSLR users who handle high-resolution files tend to carry extra CF cards on shoots. The problem is, this sort of mobility immediately exposes the little CF cards to potential damage. Fortunately, you don’t need to worry about that with the SAMSUNG CF Plus Card. Say you tucked the CF card in your back pocket and then – egad – sat on it. No problem! The card, made to bear the average weight of an adult, can take it.
They also claim it’s protected from x-rays and magnets as well with a read speed of 45mb/s and a write speed of 35mb/s. Supposedly you can run your car over it without data loss and if you feel like submerging it in sea water for 24hrs that’s ok too.
Seriously… who thinks this stuff up?

A nuke may stop it, but what about an EMP blast? I’d hate to loose photos mid-shoot because of a large solar flare…
