I’ve long been a fan of Mark Gardner’s work and I’ve been lucky enough to have him stand beside me on the wedding battlefield on more than one occasion. When I caught a quick glimpse of Mark’s latest mini gallery on Facebook I instantly wanted to show you all what a little bit of “Forced Creativity” can do for an image. What he did was…

While attending fellow photographer Joe Pulcinella’s wedding as a guest (along with several other wedding photographers) I made a decision to take the opportunity to push my creativity and capture some unique images for Joe and Cathy that were a bit more artsy and different. I did just that by using High ISO and maximum aperture, while using only available light I shot through and around some of the obvious distractions that would typically force me to move and find a clear view of the subject.

In this first shot Mark tells me he used hanging ornaments to provide some random blur and highlighting effects.

For the next picture Mark used a “Marbled” glass railing to create interest as the Bride entered the ballroom.

For this final shot he once again used a large centerpiece to help frame the couple on the dance floor.

I say well done! I particularly love the voyeuristic feel that the distinct fore, middle and backgrounds create. Kudos to Mark for reminding us to not be afraid to step out of our comfort zone every once in a while. Oh and I almost forgot, congrats to DWF PRO Joe Pulcinella on getting hitched.
