The beta for Lightroom 3 has been out for a couple weeks, and while, on the surface, it lacks the golly gee new features of Lightroom 2 (I peed my pants just a little bit when I first tried the localized adjustment brushes), it is shaping up to be a solid release.
Sean McCormack explains how to use one of Lightroom 3′s new features over at his Lightroom Blog site: how to sync photos to your iPhone. What he doesn’t explain very well is why you’d want to use publish, rather than just exporting images to a synced folder.
The big advantage with the Publish feature is that if you make any changes to an image (say, convert a picture from colour to black and white, or maybe just clone out a zit you missed), you will be given the option to re-publish the photo to reflect the current changes without having to go through the hassle of re-exporting. Next time you sync your iPhone, the changes you made in Lightroom will be reflected in your photo library. Coolness.
