As photographers we are beginning to rely more and more on social media networks such as facebook and twitter every day as a way to reach brides and grooms. Along with this dependence comes some potential pitfalls and barriers you should be aware of.
A recent mashable article highlights the fact that…
More than half of employers now block twitter, facebook, myspace
Considering the number of brides who plan their wedding from “the office” it certainly doesn’t make sense to abandon your traditional blog or website as a means of marketing. You could argue that most social media crippled brides might lean towards their smart phones and PDA’s but you can bet if the company has banned twitter from the network chances are they frown upon personal cell phone use too.
It’s certainly something to consider as many of us follow the social media bandwagon down it’s current path. What do you think? Are we relying too much on social media as a means of reaching potential clients?

In a word …. yes.
The Social Media ROCKSTAR Marketing Mentality is beginning to peak.
Like a water cooler, coffee pot, smoke break, or bathroom break, if it interferes with work it gets controlled.
Can’t imagine why a workplace in this economy would want to block the single biggest time hog on the internet
We did a long time ago.
the good news is… people are still using these networks when they get home….
We still get most hits from our facebook ads on Monday-lots of people hitting the wedding planning after the weekend.
