InVisage Technologies, bastards that they are, have just put the entire wedding photography industry out of work.
Or, so it might seem if you read this post over at Wired: a cell phone camera good enough to shoot wedding photos.
The new sensor, using “quantum dots” will improve image quality up to four times, says the company.
Oddly, they don’t address the whole sensor size/depth of field issue. Or anything about resolution and low light performance.
Hmm. Come to think of it, there’s a lot that isn’t addressed in the article. Or over at the inVisage Website, for that matter.
So, maybe it isn’t the end for wedding photographers, quite yet. In fact, the technology might be the next step in the evolution of sensors, after CCD and CMOS. However, the company’s road map doesn’t mention anything about taking over the DSLR market. Yet.
Sorry for panicking you. Um. You can go back to whatever it was you were doing….

Not a threat to wedding photographers as much as it would be to portrait and kids shooters.
Now if we could only get a camera that gets a decent phone signal….
I guess the cell phone has a built in brain in it knowing which backgrounds, photos, moments and events to shoot ?
But do I duct tape my 70-200 2.8 on it? How does that work?
