Outspoken media makes a great point with this one of a kind wedding processional video.
Watch it. You might cry. You may get up and dance. You may break into instantaneous giggle fits. You may even be slightly horrified. But while you’re watching and tapping your feet, notice the look in the attendees’ eyes. Hear their laughs. Look at the faces of the bride and everyone else involved. Feel what’s happening in that room.
Being different IS a good thing.
UPDATE:
The AP has identified the Minnesota couple who danced their way into the chapel and America’s heart.
Kevin Heinz and Jillian Peterson, their seven bridesmaids, five groomsmen and four ushers danced down the aisle to the Chris Brown song “Forever” before the couple exchanged vows June 20 in St. Paul. Peterson said Friday on NBC’s “Today” show that she grew up dancing and loves dance as a way of expression. She says she didn’t have any trouble talking Heinz into it for their wedding.
At the time of the quote above Kevin and Jill were an internet sensation with just 1.4 million visits. They’ve now crushed that record and have over 4.4 MILLION! Hell even my 70+ year old father in law called me to tell me about it yesterday. Jill and Kevin have already appeared on “Good Morning America”, “Today” and the CBS “Evening News” as well.
Does anyone know who their still photographer was?

This VIDEO is the BEST reason to have a videographer at a wedding. No Photographer could have captured this…. not even the bewildered guy wielding his camera on a bracket.
That was fantastic – how much fun did they have? Brilliant!
Omigoodness, I laughed and cried through the whole thing! How marvelous.
frikkin awesome balls of fun. Loved it.
What a boring crap, when boring people try to be funny.
I LOL’d. Kudos for being creative and taking a chance!

If I was the photographer and there was no videographer- I’d have video’d it (if they wanted me to). There wasn’t anything special the videographer did that we can’t do on the 5dmk2 or a 7d.
But I think the point of the post was to be different. And that’s a good thing for some things- and other things like ‘billing’ and ‘accounting’ that are parts of our business that are best when in a systematic process so everything gets done right and nothing gets missed/forgotten.
But other areas- like shooting, editing, customer service, style, presence, etc- if you aren’t different then you’ll never stand out. If you never stand out, you’ll blend in. If you blend in, you’ll be forgotten.
