…a photographer who understands the messy beauty at the core of weddings, and therefore the point behind wedding photos. I want photos that are honest, that capture the hugeness of it all and not just the prettiness of it. Because the prettiness is besides the point.
OMG I’m in love with this article. I encourage you to read this article, then read it again. Sit down, have a drink and let the words set in. Then and only then decide if you are anything more than a “Shuttermonkey”.
Personally I wan to say thanks to Becca and Jason for putting so eloquently into words the responsibility we carry as photographers documenting a key moment in life. We shouldn’t forget that.

Where’s my banana ? And this is a bride who probably wants it ALL for $500.00.
As a part time wedding photographer, most of my clients wear “comfortable” clothes. bring their more “comfortable” shoes to the wedding and have given up on the dieting phenomenon. I purposely don’t shoot many weddings, but will accept them when they do come along. The one thing I’ve learned in all my years of taking photos is that every bride is beautiful and every groom is handsome. And as their photographer it’s my job to show that in the photos I provide them. I’m glad that you didn’t lable all photographers BS, because there are some of us who are on the same side of the fence as you, and yes, we suffer the same indignities too. Thanks for telling it like it is.
And to that I say, oh no, no, no. The brides, they are the BS. And yes, most of them now expect it all for $500 and guess what I tell them, to go jump and land on their heads. Then maybe they’ll be able to see the world through REALITY instead of their selfish, self-centered, it’s all about them tunnel vision. All you BS brides, go take a hike.
And since the article is so covered in foul language , I’ll just repeat what bride “know it all” said, in a slightly different way,
No Bride to be, F you and your damn wedding! If you want to be featured on our sites push your fat a$$ away from the buffet a few months earlier. You know, that lousy day that you make a bunch of vendor’s lives hell for a day!
