I was just reading an article on David Sanger’s blog entitled “Bad Weather Makes Good Pictures”. While Sanger is best known for his travel photography (landscapes, cultures, etc), this advice should not be ignored by wedding photographers, either.
Dramatic weather makes for dramatic pictures, as South African DWF member Michael Tree discovered at his latest wedding. While most photographers don’t have to worry about sand storms (as he and his couple braved that day), he exploited a momentary break in the otherwise terrible weather to create some spectacular pictures of the couple and a classic Thunderbird. Check out the series (and some of his other work) at his blog.
How can you take something that is considered “bad”, or “poor photographic conditions” and turn it to your advantage?
