DWF – Let’s start off with a little bio, tell us a little bit about yourselves.

RICHARD & AMY – Richard and I are both born and raised in Saskatchewan, Canada. We are a husband and wife team who’s first love is each other, and our second love is photography.  Growing up on the prairies has given us ingrained values, love for simplicity, an appreciation for true beauty, and above all the passion and determination to go beyond expectations.  We are inspired by spirit, energy, and real moments. Capturing life, love, and the unspoken connection between couples.

DWF – How did you become a photographers?

RICHARD & AMY – We initially started our company focusing on commercial and corporate photography.  After a few years we were no longer interested in studio work, and we also did not like the minimal creative input we had with the advertising agencies we were working with. We decided to take the knowledge and experience we had with our commercial/corporate work and apply it to wedding and portrait photography.  We loved the creative freedom, and we loved creating images that will be cherished for years.  We focused all of our energy to being the best wedding and portrait photographers we could be, and never looked back.

DWF- Who or what inspires you as an artist?

RICHARD & AMY – We are inspired by many things, old movies, nature, and of course other photographic artists. Here are a few photographers we love;

DWF- If we needed a photographer today why would we book you? What makes you unique?

RICHARD & AMY – We are unique in our style, approach, and our passion for what we do.  We believe in the craftsmanship and art of photography, and do as much as we can in-house. We love the control of editing and printing our own images, and designing and assembling our albums.  We have also developed a unique way to photograph our clients, and are able to draw out and capture their connection to one another.  We create a truly memorable experience for our clients and we firmly believe in selling who we are first, and what we do second.

DWF- If you had to pick a favorite “Tool of the Trade” what would it be? and why?

RICHARD & AMY – We both love prime lenses and if we could only shoot with one or two they would be the Canon 35mm f1.4 and the 45mm TS-E f2.8.  Oh ya, we could not live without a ladder  :)

DWF – Care to share your favorite photographs?

RICHARD & AMY – We have a hard time defining our favorite photographs, as in our mind they have yet to be captured.  However, some of our favorite images are from a wedding we photographed a few years ago.  The wedding was simple, pure and elegant.  The day was simply about the couple and their love for one another.

DWF – How about some final words to live by?

RICHARD & AMY – Find your passion, feed your knowledge, grow, and never stop challenging yourself!  Step out of your comfort zone, at least once a day.  Don’t fall into habits, and challenge yourself each and every time you capture someone or something.  Follow your heart and persevere when times get tough.  Be true to yourself, remember where you came from and be grounded.
