Photojournalism evolved from newspaper photographers entering the wedding field. After partnering with Focht with my studio photography, I was introduced to editorial wedding photography. This comes from magazine fashion photographers entering the wedding field. Having grown my photography during the “photojournalist era,” I’m excited about being on the forefront of the editorial wedding photography era.
This past weekend, Focht and I were shooting a fantastic wedding and the bride wanted the bridal party formals to be taken outside. I went out with a specific image in mind and a specific album layout in mind. Trying to bring my photography to a new level, I’ve started pre-visualizing album designs as I shoot. As in one of my favorite books, the 7 Habits of Highly Successful People, I was “beginning with the end in mind.”
For this album, I’m planning a huge panoramic album, hopefully a 12″x18″ horizontal. Here are the individual shots and the final album spread.

Hey there,
I really like you approach the shoot, I think it makes a world of difference when a photographer can bring that extra and unique feature to their subjects world. I am an actor and previous model who decided to break into the wedding industry as well. I still do fashion whenever the chance come, but I believe one of the best aspect of being a fashion wedding photographer is the freedom to create your scenes. Visualized the scene way before it occurs, indeed things change as your on set, but it help to know where you are going. I love the images that you on here, I thin I can learn a few things from you for sure..
The way it works for me, sometimes I can be looking at a movie or a TV scene and taking notes on how the camera is moving, how they put the actors on the scenes..theatre and acting is all about seen the shot way before it takes place..

Great post! It is truly important, whether you brand yourself as an editorial photographer or a photo-journalistic photography or even a classic wedding photographer where you pose everyone and everything, beginning with the end in mind is what Gary Fong has talked about for years. As a Hampton Roads Wedding Photographer, my goal is always to “see” the shots come together throughout the day.
Wow, those are stunning!
