Like it..nice production value. It moved so fast it made me dizzy though…it was hard to pick up all the text.
Well produced. Way too much going on and too fast though. Give you a headache.
Um… no, every wedding video should NOT look like this.
Nice production, but it has some definite flaws. Tim pointed out that the text went by too fast and the action was a LITTLE bit too fast. The only other issue I had (and this is really just personal preference) but I don’t care for the fact that 75% of the video was made up of generally unrelated footage that was almost definitely not shot on the day of the wedding. Sure, they got married in NYC, but most of that was B-roll or stock footage that was just thrown in there. The video is actually a lot more about NYC than it is about the wedding. But I LOVE the cinematic feel of the music and tone.
Not very impressed with this. Even too fast for a “24″ ad. Not very romantic.
This is obviously a trailer, so I have no problem with its speed. I would take off the Frank Sinatra lyrics because it takes away from the visual impact. I spent way too much time distracted by lyrics I already know, but can’t help reading. The visuals stand on their own.
Bill’s right it is a trailer/teaser so I wouldn’t be worried about the bride and groom being a smaller part of it.
I found the pace good for me.
You think every video should be loaded with jump shots? When I took film courses in NYC, they taught us to be very careful with those, in fact, avoid them.
Totally flippin’ sweet! I’m with Mark on this one:)
The pace is okay for a trailer, and the lack of focus on the bride, groom and guests is ok for a wedding trailer. I don’t think the music is suitable for the trailer or for a final wedding video.
I do think that the people that produced are clearly putting the effort into their camerawork, editing and production and I think if they did put a deliverable wedding video together its tone would be different and I think it would rock. Surely this is what the trailer is for.
Should every wedding video be like this. No.
I love the variety of opinions. This is a good discussion.
Now I’ve finally seen some video that makes me think about venturing in this direction.
Impressive work and great production, but way too fast – we got dizzy watching it! Promo yes? Wedding video? NIMHO.
The musical score does not fit with the actual wedding client footage. It’s just way too dramatic. The extraneous footage is such a waste. Generic NY MTV’ish footage.
The musical score sounds like it should be on the National Geographic channel, not a wedding video.
That was such a WOW!
A bit too fast for me to inhale. The type got lost.
This says much more about the people behind the cameras than it does about the event or the subjects. And what it seems to say to me is “aren’t we cool — we can copy every effect and cliche you’ve ever seen on prime time cop shows.” Well executed, but is this really what clients want now?
Love the over all feel of the video and love the end. However, the video is cut way to fast and has to many jomp cuts in it. With any video you want to be able to tell a story. A story that could have no music and no audio but the audience would still understand.
Some of the cuts were a second and some were less…but I don’t think there were any that were more than 2 seconds. Each portion of your sequence for this type should be about 3 to 5 seconds. Using the faster past cuts to speed up the feel is great but should be used sparingly.
Also the text should have come in earlier, different color and font would have been better as well. Try using key frames on your title slate and adjust your positioning.
Over all love the idea and the concept. I would use this as a great promotion piece.
And yes, I do photography and video for a living.
Well done Robert! You are the king of “epic”. 10/10.
Not bad for a showcase of stock footage but for a wedding video, even a preview trailer at that – what an absolute joke. Much too over-dramatised for an event that should be captured and presented in a natural and candid fashion. To actually state that people who do not produce wedding videos in this fashion are in fact “doin’ in wrong” is pure arrogance. You show this off wanting a pat on the back but I for one am glad that I do not produce my videos like this.
I also reaffirm the sentiments of many others – the visual aesthetic of your typography leaves much to be desired.
