On May 21 and June 11, Photo District News will host its first Photographers’ Virtual Trade Show.

What that means is from the comforts of your own home, you can surf around their site “visiting” with vendors. You can ask them questions and come away better informed about the products on your wish-list.

The site also promises the ability to “network,” though information on how this will be enabled on their site is somewhat scant.

Clearly this is the sign-of-the-times. With the economy hitting a major road bump, the cost of travel to an actual trade show is cost-prohibitive to some photographers and vendors.  This “virtual” approach will be welcomed by those photographers and vendors, though it is to be seen how successful PDN will be in building momentum and making the idea stick in the long run.

And, yes, this virtual trade show is free to attend. Just register and you are in.
