Ok let me start by saying this is one of my absolute favorite FREE utilities of all time… WinDirStat
WinDirStat is a disk usage statistics viewer and cleanup tool for Microsoft Windows (all current variants).
It’s very small, very easy to use and very effective. It’s so simple even a caveman could do it. Once installed you simply select the drive(s) you wish to scan and wait for the program to skim your hard drive(s). Then out pops a lovely, and colorful, graph showing you the largest folders and files. You can then simply right-click on the graph anywhere and select explore to view those files/folders so you can determine if they are able to be deleted.
Like the idea of WinDirStat but you’re on a mac? Good news… there is a FREEWARE clone for OSX called Disk Inventory X. (if anyone tries it let us know how it works)

Disk Inventory X works great. I give it a run every few months.
Good to hear that Ryan.
I’m on a Mac and I use OmniDiskSweeper. May be less visually exciting than Disk Inventory X, but it does a fine job. Used it for years: http://www.omnigroup.com/products/omnidisksweeper/
