Let’s start off with big props because this easily one of the best new product names I’ve stumbled upon in recent days and the team at Zoot Snoot is to be commended! I dare you to try and forget it.

When the ZS team offered to send me over a snoot I said sure why not, I’m no Neil Van Niekerk with a flash but I can hold my own.  Let me tell you that this thing is about as straight forward as a flash modifier can get. It successfully and simply allows you to focus your speedlight as any snoot would.  I really wish I had a wedding coming up soon because after a few hours of fiddling around with the ZS I can see this puppy coming in handy during some key moments like the first dance or for some dramatic down aisle shots in the church when I want to have much less spill from my on camera flash.

I really like that it weighs nothing and takes up no space in my gear bag. It’s also very secure on the flash head thanks to an internal rubber band that keeps it from slipping off as my stofens often would.

Bonus Points: I don’t have to put another damn piece of Velcro on my flash! YES

I almost wish that instead of the stitched seam it had a Velcro one. It would make an awesome neoprene version of the Better Bounce Card or the Black Foamie Thing.  I would cut mine but I like it as a snoot too much to risk destroying it. If the guys at ZS are reading this I want credit when you start making the special “Mark Lutz” edition Zoot Snoot. :-)

BTW I’ve got Zoot Snoot to give away and we’ll be starting that contest after we get home from WPPI! Can’t wait to see you guys there.
