Over at the Flickr blog, they’re celebrating the 5 billionth picture.
The site sees an average of 3000 photos a minute put on line, which run the gamut from professional photographers to twelve-year-olds snapping off mirror shots.
While the site is often viewed as a great place for sharing snapshots (and beneath the notice of “real” photographers), it has also served as a proving ground for many young and up and coming photographers.
Many photographers have turned pro after a few years of constant improvement on Flickr, but most of the work on the site is done by amateurs.
