Wedding photographers must be a jack of all trades, great wedding photographers must master them all.  Including food photography.  Check out the Food Photography Blog, by Michael Ray.  You’ll get more information than you probably need on types of food photography, but about half way down the page you hit the juicy part with guidance on technique: lighting, camera angle, props.  The information is great for photographing wedding cakes, desserts, or even the entree.  Fair warning, it may make you hungry.
