DWF Pro member and current reigning Queen of the Annual DWF Convention Petra Hall recently shared these rather tragic photos in the PRO Gear Forum. What you are seeing here is the charred carcas of her Fiance Erkki’s Canon 7D. Apparently on his way home from work his car exploded and caught fire, his Canon 7D, 24-105L and his MacBook Air still inside. Erkki escaped just fine but his camera and laptop were not so lucky. The 7D did keep a secret inside its melted body.
A perfectly fine looking 8GB SanDisk Extreme III Compact Flash Card had survived the fire. IMAGES INTACT!
The CF-card was completely unharmed! It didn’t even smell that foul smell that burnt stuff has. Not a scratch on it. All images are recovered, and I even think it’s possible to use the memory card again!
Petra received the following information back from SanDisk yesterday.
Back HomeIn this case we have to inform you that if the card is working fine there is no problem with it and it is covered by warranty.
