The NY Daily News is reporting that Hawaii’s Governor, Linda Lingle has vetoed a “controversial” civil union bill on Tuesday. Just another in a long line of states who have stepped up to block rights for same-sex couples. Not sure what I’m talking about? See this recent article we published on the state of same-sex marriages in the US.
Given the current state of affairs in our industry (see our forum post on the double dip recession) I can’t help but remember this Forbes article on the topic discussing the potential windfall for the wedding industry if gay unions/marriage were to be made legal. Let’s just say the number that was predicted was over $9.5 billion in additional revenue entering the wedding vendor industry.

Boooooo. Another “leader” in the party of “no.”
Also Mark, I would not say that states have “‘stepped up’ to block” I would rephrase it to “Long list of states that have refused to join the modern progressive, tolerant world.” But that’s just me ; – )
People do have different views on same sex marriage also with different countries. It is good for now that there are a few US states which allows this union but we will have to most likely wait for what is best.
