Word of Mouth
a reference to the passing of information from person to person. Originally the term referred specifically to oral communication. -wikipedia
Shh… the corn have ears.
Don’t tell everyone I said this but I’m going to go out on a limb here and say that old school vanilla blogging is loosing some of it’s umph. I know what you’re thinking, your off your freaking rocker Lutz! Let me explain and come straight out and say that blogs are still awesome for SEO. But when you consider marketing and introduce Facebook into the equation you’re throwing an important old dynamic straight (word of mouth) right out the window.
You see by using Facebook you’ve upset the balance of marketing nature and you now, to a certain degree, can control your word of mouth advertising in a way that you never could before. Introduce the Facebook fan page, and tagging your clients photos with their name you’re now able to reach to your clients friends directly instead of relying on them to tell their friends that the WOM for photographer basics. Those being:
- relying on their friends to ask who was their wedding photographer
- telling their friends that you were in fact their photographer
- showing their friends the photos that you took
- telling those same friends how freaking awesome you were
My marketing hat goes off to you Facebook for a new way of doing business that allows me to reach potential clients whom might never have heard of me or ever seen my work just a few short years ago.
To all the photographers out there that don’t have a Facebook account yet. GET ONE! You’re already a good solid year behind the new word of mouth leaders.

I’m sorry Mark, I don’t know how this tittle got the green light but I’m now done with the DWF Blog.
Is this title a joke? Did someone hack in here?? Am I the only one who’s offended??
Sincere apologies for a bad edit job on my part.
ha! it certainly made me click…good fix, Mark, and you make a good point.
Not real happy saw it right off. While not offended I do come to this site at work and now have to worry if that triggered IT.
I just read the first line… hadn’t noticed it but I was referring to the url address “****ed”
Thats like strike 15 mark when are you going to be out…seems like everything you do you piss people off – Wonder why people are not here anymore.
Woohoo! We sure ****** that one up. Holy crap, we’re SO sorry guys, forgive us for the major mishap!
Actually, $10 to the first person who has a screenshot for me.
Lol. Big whoops… I agree with what you’re saying though.
Tim, the original title is still showing in feed readers (until they are reloaded/refreshed).
now I’m sad I missed this “offensive” title.
Maybe I came in after everything has been fixed, because I didn’t take offence to anything in what I just read, but I agree with the content of the blog. I had a group for the last couple years and it worked great, but the fan page I made a couple weeks ago has already booked me 2 (TWO!!!) weddings. When I got married, I got so annoyed with everyone calling and asking who did my flowers, where did I get my dresses, where did I find my jewellery, and the last think I was asked was who my photographer was. I’ve booked portrait sessions from tagging brides & their friends checking out my site and getting inspired to do family pics or maternity pics etc. Facebook is money in the bank!
