Seriously?!?
Every once in a while one stumbles across things in their Google Alert that bothers one. So I had to share, because whenever someone upsets you with something, the natural course is to turn their site into a viral success. Be insulted with me.
Today Cindy Battey‘s Internet Marketing Blog featured the 2009 top 10 home business ideas. Number 5 is an at home photography business. Fine. I have one of those, that didn’t bother me. The reason it made the top 10 is because it requires “no special training of any kind… no initial investment, and anyone can do it.” Apparently it is the most lucrative home based business of the year.
If only I had read this before I had all of that specialized training and invested in equipment! My business might be far more lucrative.
It’s on the internet so it must be true.
The link she provided us says that it is simple, if you have the right tools and equipment. That sounds a little better.

Really, no initial investment? I wish someone had told me that. But, how do you get the right tools and equipment without an initial investment? Hmm…
To Cherie and Carli-of course there is no initial investment–you inherited your mother’s Kodak Pocket camera and your kid is using a laptop for school that you can share. Then all of your friends and family and their friends are going to hire you to shoot their parties and holiday card photos, so you’re set!
Maybe someone should email her and let her know she is misleading people.
Ok..so all this money I am spending on unnecessary equipment and training is all for not! That sucks…I need to find my receipts and see what I can still return! Dang!
I wonder why they think there is no investment. There is so much I have to invest in and more I still need. Plus the 4.5 years in college. Maybe I should get rid of my overhead, like my website, insurance, proofing site, computers, hard drives, software. How about all the time I invest. Does that count for anything
[...] dear. I saw this on the DWF Wedding Photography Blog and just couldn’t let it go without [...]
No investment. I feel like everyone else. Guess that huge student loan I have to repay was not an investment. All the equipment I have to purchase, the advertisement, websites, software, etc. I guess those aren’t investments.
You know what really takes no skill, no intelligence, and no investment? Writing inane blogs that give people bad advice.
