For those of you who feel like vomiting at the mere thought of posting images in the DWF critique forum, we kindly offer this advice:
It’s impossible to develop your skills in the proverbial vacuum, and your mommy probably isn’t qualified to offer a critique (at least not effectively).
Your best option may be putting it out there for professionals to savage love. While the critique forums have guidelines about how mean the posts can be, even a healthy dose of honesty can be a bitter pill. Which is why Photocritic.org has posted a guide to grappling wih negative criticism.
It is nice to hear people fawn over your work, but that is what Facebook is for. The critique forum is where the photogods are born. Tempered and hardened by the guidance of those who have come before, and, yeah, a few who just hang out there to throw eggs.

Woohoo, thanks for the link – much appreciated!
It’s also worth reading this one – the comments are great, too!

I might be the only person who’s mommy actually is qualified to offer a critique, but she is mom so she is still biased. I send my competition prints to every M.Photog that will look at them.
Great article.
