I agree with Jeff, this method is the easiest of many, but you could a) desaturate the yellow less, b) drop the opacity of the layer to show a little of the yellow, c) add a little red to neutralize the gray look, or any combination of the above. I also like to attach a levels adjustment to a layer so that I can revise it later if needed.
Now for the opposite problem, teeth that are too white and bright. Does anyone have a method for that? I find it to be as much of a problem especially with today’s trendy penchant for over-whitening.
couldn’t you do it in less steps by adding a hue/saturation adjustment layer? It’s basically the same thing as this though. I do agree, brightening also needs to take place.
Or you can use the toothbrush in Paintshop Pro. This program has had killer cosmetic editing for years, including blemish, suntan, thinify and teeth whitening. For $60. One click whitening.

It’s quick, but it tends to leave the teeth too gray. It might be beneficial to (1) leave some of the yellow and (2) brighten the teeth as well.
