If you’ve got a RadioPopper JrX you’re probably well aware of the RPCube and the rumors surrounding it’s availability. Well here are a few photos showing you just how close they are to being a reality. Kevin King the idea man behind RadioPoppers let me snap a few photos of the upcoming RPCube at their WPPI tradeshow booth last week. As you can see they already have the retail packaging worked out. Those of you who were at WPPI are scratching your heads saying, “But wait, I was there and I didn’t see them!”. Turns out they weren’t displaying the units out in the open but if you asked Kevin real nice he would show them to you.
Blah blah blah you say… tell me what they do! The RPCube allows you break out your old hotshoe TTL flash units (think vivitar and quantum) and use them as part of your current RadioPopper configuration.
Again for those who are still shaking their heads. The RPCube will control ANY TTL flash unit…NICE!
PS: I have an feeling that those crazy dudes over at Tricoast already have a few and are playing with them since they posted this link via their twitter account this past weekend.

I’ve been waiting a lifetime for these dang RPCubes. RadioPopper has been saying that they’ll be available in 6 weeks forever. This delay, with no word on when they’ll be available and no reply to my email asking the same question is the reason I’ve held off on buying RPs. There are DIY tutorials on the web showing how to create your own RPCubes. I shouldn’t have to resort to that, and besides, busy professionals don’t always have time for DIY projects; we need stuff that works reliably out of the box. If the folks at RP can get the cube to market before PocketWizard releases its FlexTT5 for Nikon, then they will have earned my money.
I too have been waiting for the RPcube to become available. I purchased 3 JrX Studio sets at launch based on the announced 4-6 week availability of the RPcube. Well here we are at 7 months. I checked with them again today and they have no updated availability date.
[...] the RP community for ages now and they are close to hitting market. I’ve actually held one in my very own hands. But the fact of the matter is that you still can’t buy them. Enter flash zebra. Who you [...]
