Never heard of it? Well, that’s probably because International HDR day isn’t a stat holiday. In fact, right now, it’s little more than a proclamation and a contest put on by Rick “I am not a fish” Sammon and Trey “HDR is my life” Radcliff.

We want you to go out (or stay in) this week and take the best HDR image you’ve ever taken, and upload it to the DPE Flickr group. Please only upload one HDR image, and please use your real name in the text.

Trey and I will pick our two favorite images. We’ll each send the winners an autographed copy of our HDR books. The two HDR images will be posted here on DPE in mid-July. YOU need to contact us if you are selected as a winner – so keep checking the DPE web site. Contactrick@dpexperience.com.

As a bonus, Nations Photo Lab will make a 20 x 24-inch print of the two winning images. Plus, all those who submit an image can get a $50 gift card from Nations Photo Lab. Just use this code upon checkout when placing an order with Nations Photo Lab: NPLHDR.

All this week, there have been HDR tips posted over at Rick’s DP Experience site. If you’ve never shot an HDR image, tomorrow’s the perfect day to discover the magic that is HDR. Or you can discover the cartoon colours that is HDR overdone. As you like.
