So why will it never be mass produced? Because most likely the next iteration of the iPad will have a camera in what with iPhone 4 “Facetime” and all. Still it’s cool to see a mock-up of what could have been. See more images…
Although still a concept, the Cam-Case is a solution to those of you who were disappointed by the lack of a camera in Apple’s iPad. Not only does the iPad Cam-Case fully protect the iPad, but it also sports a webcam that rotates for taking photos and participating in video calls via Skype App. The camera is located in the corner which works well for landscape or portrait viewing and the rubber-plastic case provides a better grip when handling the device. The bottom half of the durable case slides into place and connects with the dock connector. A built-in port is built-in on the bottom of the case for docking and charging purposes.
BTW does anyone else find Facetime to be Waste-o-Time?

With facetime, don’t both parties have to be using an iPhone 4, and both parties must be connected to wifi? That eliminates just about everyone I know that I would actually want to use facetime. I’ll stick with regular video chat on my laptop, where it doesn’t matter what equipment the other party is using. For mobile video chat, if I ever found the need, I’d probably go with an open source solution rather than Apple’s closed box.
