Jon Stewart for president of the world!
Jon Stewart, along with Stephen Colbert, have become one of the few honest and forthright journalists in the media. While I agree with Stewart in this case, I think it goes without saying that journalists do not want to fight a legal battle on this particular case in regards to the line separating bloggers and journalists. The Gizmodo blogger should have never paid for the iphone, especially with a check.
I think if bloggers to want to be identified as journalists they should learn and understand basic journalism practices and have a good grasp of communication law.
The Gizmodo blogger felt that spending 5000 on the IPhone would increase traffic to his site, resulting in more than 5000 in revenue for himself.
While I applaud Gizmodo’s motive, the fact is that the phone was the intellectual property of Apple. Shouldn’t buy stolen goods.
And for the record, Jon Stewart is not a journalist. He admits this himself. The fact that the public sees him as such shows how delusional his audience is.
