Journey with me to the “land of make believe” as I tell you how to improve your wedding photography courtesy Fred Rodgers and Daniel Striped Tiger.
Let’s face it kissing, as freaking awesome as it may be, is probably one of the most ugly things you can do to a human face. Smooshed noses, puckered lips, or god forbid tongues!
I know you’re thinking “NO IT’S NOT” I have plenty of great kissing photos.
Well I argue that ALMOST KISSING is umpteen million times hotter than actual kissing in terms of being photographed. But what in the magical land of make believe does this have to do with Mr. Rodgers Neighborhood. If you grew up in the 80′s you might remember Daniel Striped Tiger (he lived in the clock). When Daniel wanted to show affection he would lean in and rub noses and say Uga Muga (insert character name here).
Now, at the start of each portrait session I teach couples the fine art of the Daniel Striped Tiger Uga Muga and doing so has improved my intimate posing significantly. Don’t just take my word for it give it a try I think you’ll like the end results.

I watched Mr. Rogers (and he spoke at my college graduation!).
And I agree, the intimacy of not seeing the “actual” event is sooooooo very romantic!
I have always done what I call the “slow burn”. Have my couple come in r e a l slow for the kiss, then BANG get it at a couple of moments before they make contact…they always love that.
‘Been instructing my clients in the fine art of Fake Kissing for five years. It was one of the techniques that I kept from sharing just to give me a little competative edge. Now it is becoming commonplace and if you Google it, “Almost kissing” is being looked down upon.
What once was hot is now not.
Absolutely right on… except for the part calling it “fake kissing” . It is all real it is just being held back a little which gives it some heat. Love it! colleen
For me, it’s after a real kiss that makes the best shots. It relaxes them, and you often get a great smile, or just watch, and see the magic happen on it’s own.
