With the vast majority of our readership hailing from the US of A you might not have heard of Light Blue Photo as of yet. Originally focused on the UK market light blue is looking to expand. We talk with DWF member Tom Catchsides from Light Blue about his company and his software.

Who is Light Blue Software, and where have you come from?
Light Blue Software is a UK company that makes Light Blue: Photo, which is business management software designed specifically for professional photographers. Since we launched a couple of years ago, we’ve built up a fantastic user base here in the UK & Ireland, and our international user base is beginning to grow. We’re now turning our attention to the USA, and we’ve been getting a great response from the American photographers we’ve been working with so far.
What would you call the unique selling point of Light Blue Photo? (aka the best feature)

The fact that Light Blue: Photo does it all in one place, on your desktop. In a nutshell, Light Blue: Photo manages your relationships with your clients, keeps you on top of your projects and workflow, handles your finances and can even generate bespoke web galleries with a built-in shopping cart. Light Blue: Photo will work offline if you need to work without an internet connection, or you can provide network access for your whole team.

We’re well aware that photographers can get bogged down in spreadsheets, bits of paper, notebooks and so on, and end up missing things; by keeping everything in one place it’s much easier to see what’s what. We had an email the other day from one of our users, commenting that they’d booked three weddings this year simply because of using the workflow features within Light Blue: Photo.

So you’re about to cross the pond. Are their any challenges involved in that? and when do you foresee landing?

While we’re only just starting to actively market ourselves in the US, we’ve been available to American photographers from day one. Just because we’re based in the UK, it doesn’t mean you’re stuck with British things; Light Blue: Photo has worked with dollars and US paper sizes since v1.2, and photographers from all over the world have been using it since then.

We’ve been working with photographers throughout the world since we launched Light Blue: Photo and we take user feedback very seriously – every single one of our releases has included new features requested by Light Blue Software groupies. Our latest update, v2.2, makes it even easier for photographers in the US and beyond to start using Light Blue: Photo to streamline their businesses.

You can try out Light Blue: Photo for yourself by downloading a fully-functional 30-day trial and checking out the video tutorials on our website: http://www.lightbluesoftware.com. If you like it, you can register it for $365.
