I am by no means an early adopter. I didn’t even get Lightroom until this past spring, and now I am not quite sure how I survived before. Adobe has just made Lightroom 3 Beta available. It offers film grain tools, the ability to export the slideshows you build, streamlined importing, and a bunch of other stuff that you should just check out for yourself. Adobe has posted a series of videos outlining the new features and of course the download links here. It will work in parallel with your current version of Lightroom 1 or higher, so no worries about your flow being disrupted.

I will admit that I am an Aperture user, but Lightroom is looking more and more appealing everyday! Apple really has dropped the ball on this one, especially when you think of how long it took them just to release Aperture 2.0! But in all honesty, can Apple really compete with Adobe? Doubt it.

kevin, I am thinking the same, in fact, I just decided to download last sat wedding into LR to try it out again and have to say that I am really impressed especially as I download my camera preset, seemed to wizz through my processing….I’m torn as I have loved Aperture since it first came out (well except the slow release version) but now im getting very enthusiastic towards Lightroom and how it is moving in a great direction….
I seldom use Lightroom. Mainly just to play with it, or to create a quick web slideshow. Whenever it comes hard by hard, you need to go back to PS. I’m not keen on using 2 progs at the same time and so I stick with the main prog called PS.
warning: my default language in lightroom 2.5 (german) has switched to english after I installed the beta. another thing is that i can´t do anymore backups of my library. so you may want to wait …
Watermarks! I am so excited, that was the ONE complaint I had with the previous edition. Simple to set up, easy to apply, I am a very happy camper
