Looking into the past

There is a really cool flickr group called Looking Into the Past and the basic premise behind the group is this…

This group is for images you make where some part of a modern day scene is overlapped by an old photograph. For example, you hold up an old photo so that you can see its place in the modern context.

The results of this marriage of past and present photography is quite interesting. It’s sort of like a window into the past.

Then and now

Obviously finding the exact location of some photos would be quite difficult if not impossible without knowing more of the geolocation of the images. Well if you happen to be in London I can simplify that task for you with the Street Museum iPhone app.  A simple iphone app that takes you on a virtual tour of London via your phone’s built in GPS showing your images that were taken precisely where you are currently standing. How cool is that!
