DWF – How did you become a photographer?
MARCUS- Attending a friends wedding and two significant things happen the first I saw what an amazing experience the wedding day was and secondly the professional photographer from one of the most repected studios at the time was so uninspiring it inspired me to be a wedding photographer.
DWF- Who or what inspires you as an artist?
MARCUS – Visually being able to communicate a story in a single image.
DWF- If we needed a photographer today why would we book you? What makes you unique?
MARCUS – I’ve been given the gift to see moments most can not. I’ve then spent my entire career being better than the last wedding I’ve shot.
DWF - If you had to pick a favorite “Tool of the Trade” what would it be? and why?
MARCUS - A giant invisible softbox at 35 degree angle of my subjects, you can’t simply beat beautiful light.
DWF – Care to share your favorite photograph and tell us about it?
MARCUS -
Each week I have a new favourite as each wedding there are always so many unique moments. This is an image from last weekends wedding, it was special to me on may levels, it was the third wedding that I’ve photographed for the family as having photographed Daniels two brothers previously. Daniel wife to be, Malissa from Macadona heritage had a number of special customs during the day. One was the oldest female member of the family (Malissa’s Grandmother ) and the youngest female member of the family (Malissa’s Neice) together make and bake a special loaf of bread. Once the bread goes into the oven all the female members of the family dance together. A few minutes into the dance I noticed that tears began to run down each of there faces, it was such a emotive experience to witness. After the dance they all embraces, one of Malissa’s sisters stepped back and I captured this moment. For me it summed up the emotional charged moment that they were all sharing together.
DWF – How about some final words to live by?
MARCUS - As a photographer we can afford to have an off day here and there, however the client has to live with that result for the rest of their lives. For me It’s why I want to be ay my best all the time , every time.
