There seems to be a grand spirit of one-upmanship in the wedding world that we can most likely blame on YouTube. Everyone knows everyone’s business these days and everyone’s business has to be weirder, bigger, more original than everyone else’s business.
Will this inspire a cascade of “surprise wedding dress” videos? Will we see a proliferation of copy cat princess, a-line, and mermaid wedding gowns, lit from within? Will Vera Wang be adding to her fall line?
My guess is no. Most couples want their wedding to be more than just a viral hit.
So, aspiring designers put away the fairy lights and stick with your silks and satins. Wedding Photographers, worry not about how to place a parade float in the greater context of the day, or how to properly expose the moving couple and capture the little tungsten lights under her tulle. Go back to worrying about how to make the over-rehearsed first dance look natural and romantic.
