Fusion, a term with so much stigma around it that I’m not even going to get started because none of us that they kind of time needed to discuss it today. But Jason Groupp won’t let the stigma stop him. He’s knocked out one of the best fusion pieces I’ve seen to date and I’m going to let his work speak for itself. Be sure to follow Jason on twitter (I promise he’s entertaining) and check out his website. You can find out more about Jason here.
More more more… if you know where more fusion that doesn’t suck is hiding on the interwebs we want to know about it. Link to it in the comments below!

StillMotion is (by far) the best studio that does fusion these days. I’ve had the privilege to work with them this past summer. You can check out the video here: http://www.wayneyuan.com/2009/06/swan-club-wedding-photos-carol.html
I just don’t find it that interesting. I like paper, fine art paper, and the timelessness of an image. As far as fusion is concerned, I think it is a good attempt here. I am sure the clients are happy. But would not a good video be better? To me it is a compromise of both photography and video and it takes away from both medias being together.
Cheers!
Jerome..
Personally, I can see the writing on the wall and the people who are ahead of this curve will be the ones with the best chance of coming out the other side ahead. Heck look at the newest consumer tech. Flip video cameras, iPhone video etc. The newest nano only shoots video and no stills as a photographer recently pointed out to me.

I find it interesting that you have an Animoto slidseshow on the front page of your site, yet you say you like fine art paper and timelessness of an image. Wouldn’t you say these are pretty similar?
I completely understand your point, but this is an amazing way to share images with my clients. They are going bonkers over them – and in NO way is this meant to replace a good video – however – other than a few people (like stillmotion and mindcastle) I’ve yet to see great video. ;

This is one of the best fusions of still and video that I have seen.

Personally I can’t wait for the new Canon 1d mk iv to come out so I can play with this new medium available to us.

That is a an awesome movie, thanks for sharing that! To date though, I’m the ONLY person I’ve found that has done this at an actual REAL wedding with only 2 shooters.
If there is I’d sure love it if they shared it with me!

Hey,
My fiance is a wedding videographer and I am a wedding photographer, so you can just imagine our excitement to grasp onto the PhVusion (as we coined it) genre coming into wedding photography. Between the two of us still doing what we’re mater’s of, we’ve come up with some great fusion pieces that I hope no one thinks suck!
