I predict many frantic calls to camera dealers today, begging for the number one spot on waiting lists for the new Nikon D3S. From the official press release, reproduced on dpreview.com:
Nikon today announces the introduction of the D3S, the camera that enables professionals to take control of the unpredictable and extends the possibilities for action photographers everywhere. Built upon the widely acclaimed Nikon D3, the D3S advances low light photography to another level and sets in motion new creative options for multi-media movie shooting.

Most exciting new features for Nikon users?
- ISO 102,400. That’s not a typo.
- Auto cleaning sensor
- “Quiet mode” (works the same as Canon bodies. Depress the shutter button for mirror up, release for mirror return.)
- 720p HD video recording
Estimated price tag? $5200. Ouch. Available late November, so, just in time for Christmas.
