Nikon’s imaging business has been expanding quite steadily over the past 10 years. ‘But can it enjoy the same stable growth for the next 10 years? The answer is no, – Reuters
I find this fascinating as we are still at the beginning of the HD Video DSLR movement. I’m sure he has access to much more information than lowly little old me but, for me at least, this is a WOW type of statement for a new president to be making. Don’t you agree?
According to his Reuters interview he says growth of existing digital camera products will slow. What do you guys think? (DWFers are discussing this on the forums)

At some point you max out the technology you have until something new is developed. Nikon is in the middle of rolling out some really impressive cameras and lenses (with the D4 late this year).
It’ll be interesting to see how far manufacturers can push ISO and megapixels on full frame sensors.
As a Nikon owner, I’m not afraid that their product line will go stale or fall behind Canon. Canon probably will have similar issues, but doesn’t want to say it.
Wow, the new pres. is honest! The last 10 years were the era of the digital revolution, the shift from film to digital, and there will never be such game-changing innovations again. You have to assume that just about everyone on the planet who WANTS a digital camera now owns one. . .
I always saw the ‘digital revolution’ to be the same as when Kodak introduced the Brownie. Interest builds, peaks, and wanes.
