A “magical and revolutionary product at an unbelievable price” and a ridiculous limit!

Caution: Love your iPad, think you’ll buy a few more within your lifetime? Well you had better treat those iPads as if it’s made of solid gold because you’re only allowed two per lifetime according to this Apple Store employee.

I’m sorry sir, but you have reached your lifetime limit of iPad purchases and will not be allowed to buy any more….

The above employee goes on to state that the lifetime limit is 2 iPads per customer as highlighted on the protocols now blog.  Of course the blogger in question was purchasing the iPads for gaming friends who live outside of the US but still… If that was the problem they should have busted him for that. Not mention a yet unverified 2 per “lifetime” purchasing limit. Lifetime being the key word here. Obviously they just want to stop a few people from buying dozens of the things but let’s call it what it is. I mean what if I wanted to Purchase a dozen of them for the DWF Team to use? or maybe just snag one for each member of my own household.  The employees flimsy excuse smells of I don’t know what to say BS especially since it only occurred after the store ran out of stock iPads and the blogger in question was forced into making iPad reservations.  Maybe there is a 2 per order limit but lifetime?

Over at the consumerist one commenter points out that Tech blogger and TV host Leo Laporte also had one of his orders cancelled as discussed on one of his more recent podcasts.

In the end it will be interesting to see what Apple has to say about this as the story gains momentum. Or maybe Apple will say nothing at all…
