The ASMP along with Graphic Artists Guild, the Picture Archive Council of America, the North American Nature Photography Association, Professional Photographers of America and a few individual photographers have filed suit against Google for what they are calling the illegal scanning and displaying of books containing copyright protected images.
Me thinks this might be an interesting one to watch. Read more at the ASMP website.

another bunch of morons dreaming of stopping progress. good luck.
Chuck,
“another bunch of morons dreaming of stopping progress. good luck.”
How do you get “progress” out of breaking copyright law??? Don’t drink the cool-aid!
Chuck – you may recall the national geographic lost a similar case…
Without copyright law, all art would belong to whoever wanted it, once the work of art was given to the client or shared. It would be public domain. Those who scold photographers for fighting for copyright should perhaps actually be thanking them because these challenges are what keep us all in business.
