Say what? I know, I know if you’re like me you were living in blissful ignorance and you’re playing catch up here. Apparently last week Paul Buff himself posted on their forums the following information:
Regarding my customers in California: If you support your state’s attacks and attempted boycott of Arizona for enforcing legitimate federal immigration laws and are not trying to do something about the damage being done to my country by lack of federal action regarding illegal immigrants and the vicious crimes many of them commit, I will take a leadership role and boycott sales of my products to California . . . To my valued and reasonable CA customers I offer my sympathy for what your “leaders” are putting you and the rest of America through…
As you can imagine that lead to a “minor” debate which you can read here and further to a clarification of his statement as follows.
Please note the words “If you support”, and that my final, future decision on this matter was predicated on how this situation turns out, and that “boycott sales of my products to California” refers to the State of California and not necessarily to its residents. Perhaps I was unclear about this.
Well there you go, much ado about nothing basically. Want to discuss this one on the DWF with you fellow photographers. Here’s a direct link. Not a DWF pro member? No worries trials are FREE and we do not have an official policy or stance in place regarding California immigration laws.

LMAO!
I wonder how he gets all his parts from China to Tennessee?
Are the ships porting in Cali, or do they come straight up the Mississippi?
Oh, hey isn’t California one of those few states that pays more taxes to the fed than receives in support? I also don’t see Mr. Buff bringing up the practice of conservative organizations(like the US Chamber of Commerce) raising millions to run attack ads on Democrats and liberals. This forum posting is from May and locked or I would add to the dialog.
Looking at his closing statement, I guess he forgot to check Snopes

@Scott — Interesting that you are quick to point out the alleged bias of the “conservative” US CoC, but don’t recognize the liberal bias of Snopes. That’s not to say that Snopes is factually incorrect in their statements on this one (I don’t know one way or the other), just that you’re not being entirely consistent. In my state, the public school teachers union (funded by taxpayer dollars) spent millions lying to voters through hit-job ads against Republicans and conservatives in the last election, so I guess that door swings both ways.
Well this sucks. Although I’ve never used Paul Buffs equipment, I have been following his Einstein news and, in particular, his wonderful Cyber Commander unit. After seeing a video review on the Cyber Commander, I was ready to jump ship, cash in my gear, and head on over to restock my business with Paul’s equipment.
However, before doing so, I searched through his support forums (which I always do before purchasing from a company, if they have a forum) just to see what kind of issues I might come across.
Unfortunately, I found his own forums littered with political propaganda and threads started by him that were locked by him (Very ironic that he’d use a communistic approach to shutting up those who do not agree with him to voice his political views on the “USSA”.)
In the end, I just can’t see investing thousands of my dollars into gear from a company where the owner seems completely willing to risk the future of his company because of his own political agenda. Oh well, I guess my current gear will have to do for a little while longer until a more reputable, and less volatile, company comes up with something similar to the Cyber Commander.
