I first watched this video and thought. How goddamn cool is that! I mean seriously pretty darn cool. Then I watched it a second time, went all philosophical and it reminded me that being my own boss, husband and father is really all about balance. It also reminded me that I’m very much guilty of living and working on a giant life sized teeter totter. I really felt like the giant stack of toys in the video waiting for a little tiny wind-up robot to come along and wipe me out.
So to my wife, family and friends. I’m sorry!
As photographers it’s so darn easy to put in way to many hours neglecting the things that are really important. (Read that as not your business) I wish I had a magic solution, or a book you could read that would tell you how to better balance the “Big Life Picture” but I don’t. In the end perhaps it’s best to just watch a video of a man playing with toys and practice a little introspection because the only person that can bring balance to your life in the end is you.
A special thanks to Walter Wick for an unintended wake-up call that we can all use from time to time.
