You might know that Brian May was the man my brother was named for, or that he is the lead guitarist for Queen. Did you know he’s an astrophysicist? Did you know he has had an interest in stereo photography since college?
Brian May has co-authored a book on stereo photography “A Village Lost and Found” with Elena Vidal focusing on the stereo photographer T.R. Williams. You can find it on Amazon, and it comes with a scope so you can experience there 150 year old images the way they should be.
I spent many hours growing up staring into my aunt’s antiques stereo scope, fascinated by the 3D images of long ago and far away. As 3D comes back into vogue it is amazing to look back at the early roots and realize that 3D has been around for as long as people have been making photographs.
Read an interview with Brian May and others at the Kansas City Star’s website.
