During a recent shoot at the Madrid Gay Pride Parade (cool video be sure to check it out) photographer Agua had his 5D Mark II sensor destroyed by a passing laser light show. Think it’s a one off… no such luck!
As you can see both cameras are damaged by the passing laser while shooting video. One would assume it’s more likely to happen while shooting video because the sensor is constantly wide open increasing the chance for burn-in. So at your next wedding or concert proceed with caution next time the DJ or Band fire up their laser light show. It could be a costly mistake.

Cue Homer Simpson… “doh!”
At least it wasn’t a Nikon
Is it a temporary thing, or is the sensor actually destroyed as in that it needs replacing?
Thanks for the heads up on that one.

Would be eager to know, too. Is it a common problem or is it the 5DMII having this issue.
Pretty sure that it’s permanent.
