Sandisk, apparently unaware that we are in the middle of a recession, has just announced some high dollar crazy fast compact flash memory.
SanDisk Corporation (NASDAQ: SNDK), the global leader in flash memory cards, today introduced a new line of SanDisk Extreme® Pro™ CompactFlash® memory cards, setting a new standard for fast, reliable, high-capacity memory cards designed for professional photographers. SanDisk Extreme Pro CompactFlash cards feature a new SanDisk® Power Core Controller™, an advanced memory controller that enables lightning-fast read and write speeds of up to 90MB/s1, doubling the performance from previous SanDisk high-end camera memory cards. The cards are shipping worldwide now with capacities ranging from 16GB to 64GB.
Incase you thought I was just exaggeratingg the price point…
Yes ladies and gentlemen, for just $811.99 you too can own your very own 64GB compact flash card capable of 90MB/s read/write speed or roughly what amounts to 600x transfer speeds. I’m happy to see the crazy fast speeds of course and with trickle down technology what it is today it means that we’ll be able to pick up the same card for $80 at WalMart in a few short years.
Check out the press release for more details.

Wow. What market actually comes close to using that capacity? Is it the fusion market? Or, is it those 20+ MP camera users? Oh darn, the NAS is kicking in again
[...] unable to locate a MSRP for the card but let’s hope that it’s cheaper than the lastest Sandisk offering we told you all about yesterday which rolled in at an insane $811 for a 600x 64GB [...]
Just like many other items we use today – it was the few that help us masses use them in our everyday work life. How many people were able to afford a 2 megapixel camera at $25k, when they were new? Now, we have 10X that for 1/10 of the price!
