The website Rollip.com is an easy way to slap a filter on an image.  It’s also great is you need a look that you aren’t after all of the time and therefore don’t want to invest in an action.  For $2.99 you can purchase 15 credits (that’s just 19.933333333¢ each).  Choose one of 40 filters (I like the nifty vintage ones, in case you hadn’t noticed), upload your image file (like the one I randomly grabbed of my kid), preview and if you like it use one of your credits to get a high resolution version (or right click and download the preview).  At less than 20¢ a pop that’s a pretty good value.
