I remember back in the old days when we didn’t even have those fancy pants LCD screens. Now all you kids have those… those swiveling ones! God I feel old, maybe it’s because the first bride I shot wore gloves and her dress had caps sleeves with a full lace bodice. Or maybe… oh hell I’m just old! :-)

But I digress because a swivel screen is USEFUL in two ways.

  1. You’re one of those new fangled fusion video shooters and you can’t be bothered to look through the old viewfinder. Kids these days I tell ya!
  2. You’re looking to emulate that fashion feel and using a live view LCD as if it was a waist level viewfinder can help you do rock it old school. Think I’m making it up? Fire up a few fashion rag websites look at the photos and you’ll notice a trend towards belly button level shooting.

Ok sure, it would be useful other ways as well but those are the two that I think are most useful. How would you use a swiveling viewfinder? and do you think they are useful?

Will the Canon 60D have a rotating LCD screen?
