The “Portrait Projecting  Ring” was created by Luke Jerram with the help of a local jeweler.

In a darkened room, light from a candle or LED passes through the ring to project a series of portraits. A selection of miniature slides were made of different family portraits and inserted into the edge of the ring for projection. As Jerram’s family grows, photos of his children can be added to the ring. The ring was inspired by 19th Century Standhopes.

Seriously, how freakin’ cool is that! I want one but alas wanting one means that I’d need to design and make my own because Luke is not making them for anyone else. In fact, the one he designed has been stolen from his bedroom whilst he was sleeping. Don’t worry though, he’s working on Projector Ring version 2.0.
